Building Bridges

For five years now, Nexus Community Partners has supported and created strategies, tools and resources – in partnership with under-represented communities – that bridge their efforts to mainstream community-development initiatives. Because of our unique ability to create authentic relationships, Nexus is invited by partner agencies and grant recipients to:

Provide guidance on how to strategically engage and respond to communities

Restart or continue dialog when community relationships have been damaged

Obtain an honest assessment of the effectiveness of their community engagement efforts

Responsive & Flexible

Our ability to engage with our partners, in community, in “real time” makes Nexus highly responsive and positions us to capitalize on emerging ideas, tools and strategies. As a re-grantor, we can be nimble and responsive as opportunities emerge to connect and support organizations and networks working in the community.

Seeding & Incubating Innovation

Our network of connections and trusted relationships within the community makes it possible for Nexus to identify, nurture and play a critical role in the support of emerging asset- and community-building strategies. Nexus provides engaged facilitation and coaching with community organizations and partners as they embark on their work.

Leadership & Cultural Competence

Not only does Nexus’ staff reflect the communities of color and immigrant communities in which we work, but we are able to understand and discern the cultural clues present in conversations and practice. Nexus staff members frequently act as interpreters of languages and unfamiliar concepts of mainstream markets and culture. We also add value by providing strategic guidance to grantees and other organizations engaged in implementing cross-cultural and cross-sector initiatives.
