Project Manager, Worker Ownership Initiative
Started at Nexus: 2019
I joined Nexus in August of 2019 as Program Manager of The Worker Ownership Initiative (WOI). This program is aimed at helping privately-owned businesses convert into employee-owned cooperatives. This provides a solid exit strategy for business owners, retains local businesses, and is an opportunity for employees to become stakeholders of their workplace. Our vision is to grow and perpetuate community wealth by expanding opportunities for local business ownership.
I have been active in the worker-cooperative sector for 17 years. I began this work as a co-founder of The Hub Bike Co-op, a worker-owned chain of bicycle shops with three locations in Minneapolis. I served there as CEO and Development Coordinator until 2018. I have also consulted with other cooperatives and nonprofits on topics ranging from financial planning to human resources. I currently also serve on the board of directors of Cooperative Energy Futures.
