Research Assistant - North Star
Started at Nexus: 2021
Kai Andersen is a native of Minneapolis, Urban Planning graduate student and Charles R. Krusell Fellow at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. He is interested in radical structural change to address the historic harm caused by racist urban planning policies. Kai is excited to explore a new journey at Nexus and Community Partners by digging deeper into the African American experience with cooperative economic thought and practice as a path to self and collective healing and transformation. He is passionate about upholding environmental justice principles that protect the cultural identity and self determination of Black and Brown spaces as well as intersectional identities.
As a research assistant for The Alliance for Metropolitan Stability from 2020-2021, Kai co-facilitated a BIPOC work group aimed at revising measurable criteria language within the Twin Cities Equitable Development and Principles Scorecard. The group accomplished a revised Scorecard working document that holds development projects accountable to what “livability” means when it comes to the History, Wellness, and Self-Determination of our communities.
